PaddleCore is a fantastic program that’s perfect for members looking to improve their paddling skills and get in shape! We’re all about the feeling of gliding the canoe with forward momentum, a gentle “catch,” a powerful pull, and a swift return. You’ll have plenty of time to practice in the club training tank and on the water with some fun drills. The intensity of the paddling varies, and we often wrap things up with a friendly race. Each session is about an hour long, covering around 3+ miles.

We offer PaddleCore sessions year-round on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 6:00 am to 7:00 am. To get everything ready, please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can move the canoes and get them ready to launch. After a quick stretch, we’ll chat about technique and the workout. Then, we’ll announce the crews and launch the canoes at 6:00 am. After an hour on the water, everyone helps put the canoes away and we have a quick review. For those who need to get to work early during “off season” from October through March, we also have additional PaddleCore sessions from 5:30 am to 6:30 am.

 
Since PaddleCore is so popular, we ask members to sign up for the sessions they’d like to attend each week. Just log in, open the calendar, select the PaddleCore event you’d like to attend, and then pick Register Now and follow the directions. Pre-registration helps us create crew lists with the workouts in advance.
